2026, the year of the zine

Paper's death has been announced a hundred times. Paper, meanwhile, makes objects you keep.

The zine is seeing a structural resurgence, driven by digital fatigue and a weariness with AI-generated visuals. In Japan, the self-publishing market is approaching one hundred and fifty billion yen, almost double what it was four years ago. Zine fairs are selling out, from Vienna to Madrid. One essayist even declared 2026 the year of the zine.

The fanzine doesn't exist to make money. It exists to share ideas and to hold a community together. That's exactly what we mean by our own.

Imperfection as signature

The same move on the printing side. Risograph is back for its grain, its slight registration flaws, its ink texture, everything that escapes the smooth perfection of a machine. Art screen printing runs at full tilt in France, in open studios. The accident becomes the proof that a hand passed through.

That's our ground: raw but held. Ash, tar, rust as accent. A fanzine isn't nostalgic. It's just harder to throw away than a tab.
